Here’s one magical word that will be music to your ears this holiday season: free! Art on theMART is a unique event that you can take in this year, and it won’t cost you a penny. Just head down to the Chicago Riverwalk, and check out the historic building on Wacker Street between Wells and Franklin streets. Each evening at 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., the full front of the edifice will be illuminated with the most colorful, gorgeous scenes of art and artistry. Art on theMART features famous works like Monet’s Poppy Field and Bisa Butler’s The Princess and Anaya with Oranges, along with classic images from The Joffrey Ballet’s The Nutcracker. The sheer size of the presentation will stop you in your tracks, and this impressive display can be enjoyed by you and your crew for free.
The best place to view Art on theMART is on the jetty directly across from the building. No tickets or reservations are required, but get there a bit early to beat the crowds (there will be limited attendance and face covering required due to the pandemic). Art on theMART lasts through December 30.
